I have a close friend who I knew as strong and confident and professional. I happen to catch her on a day where she was just about as down as I've ever seen. Her story was very powerful. As we talked, I had to pull the car over and I began writing this song. It's one of those that only took a few minutes. I went to my home recording studio, stayed up all night, and laid down the draft verson of the song. I couldn't wait to play it for the band. As always, the band took the song and LCF'd it. The message is clear...don't give up hope!

Whenever darkness smothers you, sucking the life right out of you.
And you wake up in a world that's not your home.
When fear and doubt blanket over you, like the fog at night or the morning dew, and you look around to find you're on your own.

Fight Back, jumpin' jack, like a flash you're coming back, dig in deep, do not weep, they'll never knock you off your feet, don't give up hope, you can cope, never let go of the rope. The ends in sight, you'll get it right, tie a knot and hold on tight. Don't slip away into the night, don't give up hope without a fight, just please the name of Jesus Christ and rest assured he'll never sacrifice your love.

When all your friends have let you down, you feel like a stranger in this town. And one step is as much as you can take. When it seems that life is just a maze, and your dreams are floating into haze. and you wonder if it's more than you can take.
