In this world of great injustice, the concept of mercy is rarely seen. I don't journal, I write songs. This song came from soul searching late at night at the kitchen table...

We loved to layer rich harmonies, and this song has it. And Christy adds so much with her violin solos and melodies.

*Inside scoop... I made a mistake in the studio, and you'll notice 4 extra bars in between the intro guitar solo and Christy's violin solo...dead space that we decided to leave instead of fix. Now you know the whole story.

Sometimes I don't understand, why He cares for mortal man.
The creator can surely see, all our weakness and impurity.
No matter how hard I try, sometimes I fail Him, and I don't know why,
I've been saved by grace, and I've been givin' sight, but some days I just can't seem to get it right.

I plead Your name, cry out in shame, and beg for mercy (repeat).

Verse 2:
When I was a young young man,
I was unwilling to take a stand,
I chose wrong over right,
and I'd rather go to hell than to give up the fight,
But now I'm older and wiser, ah but still,
some days I still struggle with my free will,
So, I take one day at a time, and rely on Friend who's paid my crime,
he sits beside the Father and pleads my case,
the divine interceptor to the human race.

a cringing beggar I daily seek, to be made whole and to be complete,
by His love I've been redeemed, by His blood I've been made clean,
